Join us for this fun, hands-on course and learn how to set up, grow and harvest your own food. This foundational course is a must for all food gardeners from beginners to the more experienced.

What you will learn This course covers a wide range of practical topics to help you successfully establish a productive food garden or improve an existing one. Come along and learn practical skills to grow your own healthy and nutritious vegetables, fruits and herbs.

Content includes:

  • Gardening techniques: learn about popular gardening methods including organic, traditional, permaculture, biodynamic and no-dig gardening.
  • Setting up your food garden: we will cover types of growing beds (in-ground and raised), soils, potting and propagation mixes, worm farms, composting, organic fertilisers and sprays.
  • Propagation techniques: propagating from seeds and cuttings and seed saving.
  • Planting and maintenance: learn about seasonal planting of assorted vegetables, fruits and herbs and how to maintain a productive and healthy food garden all year round.
  • Troubleshooting: learn how to deal with weeds, pests and disease and how to avoid common and costly gardening mistakes.

Participants receive a FREE packet of seeds, FREE course handouts and an optional Course Certificate!

What to wear, what to bring: Wear comfortable gardening clothes including sturdy shoes. Bring a hat and your lunch. Depending on the time of the year you might also need to bring wet weather gear or sunblock!
What we provide: You will receive free course handouts covering the course content. We will also send you away with a free packet of seeds so that you can get started in your own garden.

All gardening tools required during the course are provided on site as well as tea and coffee facilities to keep you hydrated.

In addition to this you will receive practical skills, a wealth of knowledge and some great networks to support your future gardening endeavours. All participants are emailed an optional Course Certificate after the course.

Your trainer: Michael is the founder of Grow Dynamix and is a qualified horticulturist and trainer with over 30 years-experience in the industry. His experience covers market gardens, production and retail nurseries, landscaping and garden design, organic food production and the design and running of school and community food gardens. Michael works regularly on local and international food security projects and is passionate about teaching people how to grow their own food so that they can eat healthy, save money and enjoy the art of successful gardening.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds for non-attendance. If you are unable to attend the course you are booked into you are welcome to arrange for a family member or friend to take your place. Or alternatively email us (growdynamix@gmail.com) 24hours prior to the course commencing to arrange attendance at the same course on another date.
